Position: Researcher and Writer Associate

Background
Noon Feminist Movement (NFM) is a Sudanese non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the rights of women and gender minorities. The organization actively works on documenting the Sudanese feminist movement and violations against Sudanese women human rights defenders (WHRDs) and marginalized communities. Additionally, Noon Feminist Movement engages in social media advocacy and produces contextualized Sudanese feminist knowledge.
To support these efforts, NFM seeks a Researcher and Writer Associate to contribute to research and content development. Working under the Lead Researcher and Writer, the Associate will support research efforts, assist in content creation, and ensure timely delivery of research-based materials that align with NFM’s vision and objectives.
Purpose of the Role
The Researcher and Writer Associate will be responsible for conducting research, gathering relevant data, and assisting in the creation of content that supports the production of the NFM’s projects & activities. The role requires strong research skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to translate complex feminist and socio-political issues into engaging content for different audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research and Data Collection
Conduct research on feminist, gender, and socio-political topics relevant to NFM’s projects and activities.
Gather data from literature reviews, reports, and analytical articles to support content creation.
Participate in Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and other qualitative research activities to collect insights.
2. Content Development
Assist in developing well-researched content, including articles, scripts, infographics, and social media posts.
Adapt research findings for various formats such as short videos, podcasts, and infographics.
Translate complex research insights into accessible and engaging materials for different target audiences.
3. Collaboration and Support
Work closely with the Lead Researcher and Writer to ensure alignment between research and content.
Support NFM management and the media unit in developing high-quality feminist content.
Contribute to brainstorming sessions and strategy discussions for content development.
4. Content Review and Quality Assurance
Ensure all content produced is accurate, well-researched, and aligns with NFM’s principles.
Assist in editing and fact-checking research-based materials before publication.
5. Timely Submission of Work
Adhere to project timelines and deadlines for research and content production.
Provide regular updates to the Lead Researcher and Writer on progress and challenges.
Deliverables and Timeline
Contribute to research and content development for Noon Podcast and Broadcast.
Supporting the development of well-researched short videos.
Assisting in the creation of infographics summarizing key feminist issues.
Supporting the production of podcast episodes, including research and scriptwriting.
Drafting and editing social media posts based on research findings.
Participating in FGDs and brainstorming sessions to inform content strategy.
Providing research summaries and documentation to support content creation.
Ensuring timely submission of all assigned tasks.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Background in feminist studies, gender studies, social sciences, or journalism.
2. Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
3. Excellent writing and editing skills in Arabic and English.
4. Experience in content creation for media or advocacy (e.g., articles, podcasts, social media posts).
5. Understanding of Sudanese feminist movements and socio-political issues affecting women.
6. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
