Background
Noon Feminist Movement is a Sudanese non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the rights of women and gender minorities. The organization actively works on documenting the Sudanese feminist movement and violations against Sudanese women human rights defenders (WHRDs) and marginalized communities. Additionally, Noon Feminist Movement engages in social media advocacy and produces contextualized Sudanese feminist knowledge. Noon Broadcast project aims to produce insightful and impactful media content that raises awareness of feminist issues and engages various audiences. To ensure that content is informative and grounded in solid research, NFM seeks a Researcher to develop feminist analytical research materials that will guide content creation for the Noon Prod cast.
Purpose of the Role
The Researcher will be responsible for producing and organizing feminist analytical research materials that support the content creation process for Noon Broadcast. This role involves gathering information through various methods, including brainstorming sessions, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and reviewing analytical articles, to deliver comprehensive research outputs that inform and shape the content produced by NFM.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research Development:
Conduct in-depth research on feminist topics relevant to the Noon Broadcast project, ensuring that the content aligns with NFM’s mission and goals.
Develop analytical research materials that provide insights and data to inform content creation for Noon Broadcast.
2. Information Gathering:
Organize and facilitate brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and gather information for research.
Conduct Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) to gain perspectives and insights from diverse groups on key feminist issues.
Review and analyze relevant academic articles, reports, and other sources to support the development of research materials.
3. Collaboration:
Work closely with the Projects Coordinator and other NFM media unit staff or consultants to align research activities with project goals and content needs.
Provide research support and guidance to the Content Creator, ensuring that content is well-informed and evidence-based.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
Compile and organize research findings into clear and concise reports or briefs that can be easily used by the Content Creator.
Present research findings in a manner that is accessible and actionable for the Content Creator.
5. Timely Delivery:
Ensure all research materials and outputs are delivered on time, meeting agreed-upon deadlines and project timelines.
Qualifications and Experience
Proven experience in research, preferably in feminist studies, gender studies, or related fields.
Strong understanding of feminist issues and the social context of Sudan.
Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills in both English and Arabic.
Experience in organizing and conducting FGDs and other participatory research methods.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Familiarity with academic research methods and the ability to translate complex ideas into accessible content.
