Reporting to: Projects Coordinator, Noon Feminist Movement (NFM)
Background
Noon Feminist Movement is a Sudanese non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the rights of women and gender minorities. The organization actively works on documenting the Sudanese feminist movement and violations against Sudanese women human rights defenders (WHRDs) and marginalized communities. Additionally, Noon Feminist Movement engages in social media advocacy and produces contextualized Sudanese feminist knowledge, including the Noon Podcast and Noon Broadcast. These projects aim to create engaging and informative content that resonates with our target audiences, ranging from donors and internal staff to social media followers and the general public.
Purpose of the Role
The Content Writer will be responsible for producing and organizing content for Noon Podcast and Noon Broadcast. The role involves creating a variety of content types, including short videos, infographics, podcasts, and social media posts, tailored to different audiences. The content should align with the goals of NFM, effectively communicating our message and engaging our audience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Content Creation:
• Develop and produce high-quality content for Noon Podcast and Noon Broadcast, ensuring it aligns with NFM’s vision and goals.
• Create content that can be repurposed into various formats such as short videos, infographics, podcasts, and social media posts.
2. Audience Targeting:
• Tailor content to engage specific target audiences, including donors, internal NFM network staff, Facebook followers, X (formerly Twitter) followers, Instagram followers, and the general public.
• Ensure content is culturally relevant and sensitive to the context of Sudanese society.
3. Collaboration:
• Work closely with the Projects Coordinator and other NFM media unit staff or consultants to determine the focus and format of content creation.
• Proactively liaise with the NFM media unit researcher to gather necessary materials and insights for content development.
4. Project Management:
• Manage content creation projects from inception to delivery, ensuring all content meets agreed deadlines.
• Maintain consistent communication with the Projects Coordinator to provide updates on progress and any challenges encountered.
5. Content Quality:
• Ensure all content is accurate, well-researched, and reflects NFM’s commitment to feminist principles and gender equality.
• Adhere to NFM’s style guide and content standards, ensuring a consistent and professional tone across all materials.
Qualifications and Experience
• Proven experience as a content writer or creator, preferably within the nonprofit or media sector.• Strong understanding of feminist issues, gender equality, and the social context of Sudan.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills in both English and Arabic.
• Proficiency in using content creation tools and platforms.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Creative thinking and the ability to produce innovative and engaging content.
